Biography

maiko  Maiko Hata (maiko@japanlanguagesolutions.com) has helped over 100 international students, both in Japan and in the U.S. She has taught at various ESL programs and at universities in Japan. She assists clients by acting as a bilingual/bicultural liaison with her translation/interpretation skills.

She also enjoys working as an educational consultant, helping Japanese students get accepted to and study at universities and graduate schools in the U.S. Having studied at a graduate school as an international student herself, she knows how best to assist students who are chasing their dreams. She also enjoys helping ESL programs increase Japanese admission through researching Japanese market and universities.

She has co-authored books on language learning in Japan, and has published and presented both in Japanese and in English in various professional organizations and journals, including Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Japan Association of Language Teachers (JALT), and Forum for Foreign Language Education at Kansai University.

Maiko has a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California. She also completed Web-based Instruction Certificate course at Simon Fraser University, and KEYS Business Management course at Lane Community College.

tom  Thomas Delaney (tom@japanlanguagesolutions.com) has helped over 200 students in various countries including Japan, the U.S., Korea, Turkey, and Columbia. He works as a native English speaking editor, and an educational consultant using his experience as a former expat who loves learning new languages and cultures. He also is media review's editor for TESL-EJ, an online journal for teachers of English.

He had contributed articles to professional journals such as the Oregon Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ORTESOL) Journal, and the Language Teachers published by the Japan Association of Language Teachers.

Tom is currently working on his Ph.D. in applied linguistics at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He has a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Monterey Institute of International Studies.

With his extensive experience as a language teacher and an editor, he provides clients with accurate and professional editing and coaching services.
